The Minnesota Senate race is still lingering on. Normie is calling for a do over because the vote was so close, which brings new meaning to the word chutzpah. The Governor is that weasely Tim Pawlenty, which gives one pause and doesn't inspire confidence. I think the Repugs in the Senate are so unhinged that they will threaten to filibuster when Franken is finally declared the winner, which he will be after all court business is over. But when? Coleman only won the seat after grotesque distortions were bandied about in the press about the unseemly behaviour of the Democrats at the memorial service for Paul Welstone. It is almost unthinkable that the sleezy, corupt Coleman has Welstone's former seat.

I see that an appreciation of irony is not a Republican virtue. Here we have Ben Ginsburg of the Florida recount debacle, arguing that votes in the Minnesota Senate race should be counted once, twice and then some more. Unlike in the Florida 2000 election, the votes have been actually recounted. How do these people live with themselves? Easy, they believe that whatever they do to get power is the right thing to do. Meanwhile, the election haggling goes on and on, which is of course what the Republican's want. The longer it goes on, the more it will seem as though Franken's victory is somehow tainted, and the other important benefit is that there is one less Democratic vote, and a liberal one at that, in the Senate. Where is the ethics probe of Norm and why is it languishing? You would think that a business man funneling hundreds of thousands of dollars to Norm through his cheezeball wife would make some news, not to mention his sweet rental deal, but these ethics issues are rarely mentioned by the MSM. Al Franken is generally refered to as former SNL performer, why isn't Norm mentioned as Current Senate Grifter?

I know Barack loves bipartisanship, but at every point Republicans demonstrate that they could care less. After all, there are different rules for Republicans, just look at the Minnesota Senate Race. What was the Bush margin in Florida? About 250 votes than Franken's margin in Minnesota, and in this election, the votes were actually re-counted, and as you can see, I am not over it and never will be. Republican shennanigans and Democratic spinelessness have cost our country dearly. The Republicans think that bipartisanship means do what they want. If the dems questioned a Bush appointment, they are anti-patriot obstructionists, but Repugs show no such qualms. Ole' Arlen is getting fired up to oppose Eric Holder. Now Specter is supposedly a more "liberal" Republican, but his voting record sure doesn't prove it. Time and time again, he attempts to show how thoughtful he is, but then does exactly what his puppet masters dictate. What a tool. I hope he is crushed in his next election. I think what the Repugs are not understanding, is that the American people really want Barack to succeed. They do not want politics as usual because they realize that their lives are actually affected by what happens in Washinton. For Republicans, it is all politics because they feel that it is their sacred duty to cling to what power they have, no matter what the cost. After all, they don't really believe in government, do they?

Now "The Pendulum Swings to Franken" is a nice headline. To me it is an outrage that the curiously repellent Norm Coleman holds the Senate seat formerly held by Paul Wellstone, who was truly a liberal/progressive voice in the Senate. There is definitely something weird about Coleman, and it is not just because his ancient dad was arrested having sex with a woman outside a pizzeria, or because his wife has shady dealings, or that he has strange sleeping arrangements in D.C., or his teeth are strangely large and fake looking. I am surprised that the voters of Minnesota don't assert their good, clean mid-western values and send him packing, back to Minnesota.
